WAR AGAINST YOURSELF

The battle against yourself is the hardest battle and it is usually in the mind. The Bible says that our weapons of warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down corrupted thoughts that would rise against His word, will and ways in your life.

And every pretension raising itself against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ.  2 Corinthians 10:5

Imaginations that are not compliant with the word of God should be cast out. The devil tries to deceive, discourage or turn us away from our Lord Jesus. We usually battle with thoughts like ‘God doesn’t hear your prayers’, especially when you have prayed and prayed and asked God for something and you didn’t get it; ‘you are missing out on life’ when you’re single and other people are going out and having “fun”.

We must take every thought captive, submit to the word of God and not our imaginations which leaves us spiritually weak and emotionally immature. We should not believe everything we think of, because our mind is broken by sin, but we should fill our minds with things that are pure and lovely as the word of God exhorts us in the book of Philippians 4:8 “Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things”. Fear and insecurity should not rule our minds but we will be sure to have the abundant life which only Christ gives when we submit to His teachings.
