OBEDIENCE

Obedience to God is an important aspect of our Christian journey. It is all about hearing God’s word and acting accordingly. We can obey God by pondering and meditating on His word and that is the only way we can have a close relationship with Him. Thus, we enjoy the communion and blessings of God.

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

John 14:15

Obedience to God therefore means loving Him, knowing Him and having an intimate relationship with Him. It assures us that we truly know God and He is glorified. It also shows that we are trusting Him to be God and allowing His word, His Holy Spirit and His way of doing things in our lives. True obedience is when what we hear (the word of God) inspires us and motivates us to act according to the speaker’s (God) desire. As children of God, we believe in Him, trust Him, have faith in Him and let His words dwell in our hearts. Obedience is an act of worship. It flows freely from the heart of the Christian in gratitude to God. It shows how much we love God and demonstrates our faith. And when we obey, the Holy Spirit transforms us, and we experience the blessings of holy living.

Fix your eyes on God, allow Him to have His way and trust that He will fulfil that which He has promised.
